On the forth disc of Justice League Season Two, the disc begins with “Hereafter: Part One and Two”. Which is where I found this typo; “Hereafter” is listed on Disc Three and “Secret Society” on Disc Four. The first episode is a great “death of Superman” story with Toyman doing the honors. The second part takes place thirty thousand years in the future. 30,000? I am sure that is what they said. The picture is what happens to the Earth when Superman is dead.
I know that in the 80’s, DC looked at this issue, when Doomsday killed Superman. I haven’t read it in a long time, so if is tough to remember. However, the idea of a world without Superman does intrique me. The interesting thing is that Superman i the only one that we can ask that question of.
Would we really care if Spiderman died? What about Wonder Woman? What about Wolverine? Or Batman? The fans would be upset but would it attract attention. I know people that stopped reading comic books after they killed Superman–they distrusted the writers as greedy and selfish. I remember that I first heard about his death literally on NBC Nightly News. But, would we care if any other character died? No. Superman is the greatest. Â
One question still remains; What would the world be like with out him? I hope we never find out.
