As often as I can, I love to visit Antique stores. I love to go inside and see what I can find.
Most of the time, I am not able to buy anything, but I love to walk around and see what is available. Typically, I do not have an objective in mind, but I love to see if they have old cameras available.
I love to shoot film photography. I do not do it as much as I would like but I love to feel the shutter and see what develops from a 35mm negative. So, when I am in an antique store and see a section of cameras or camera all by itself, it certainly peaks my interest. There are two main types of cameras that I look for.
First, I look for a standard 35mm. Most of the time, I will see an old SLR Camera, which I already own. It is interesting to me but I do not buy them. What I am looking for is an old plastic camera. Maybe a Kodak from the early 1970s. This type of camera would really be a challenge and joy to shoot.
Second, I look for a non-battery operated 110 camera. These are harder to find because they were cheap enough that people simply through them away or through the in a drawer when digital came along. I would love to try to use this type of camera as well.
It is funny to see me drawn to the old cameras, when there are so many nice digital options around, but the challenge of film is so alluring to me. They always catch my attention at the antique stores.
