This was my first week of work at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. I am excited to get my ministry started into all aspects of the community here and enjoyed the week of getting settled in.
On Sunday, our family was able to join some friends for lunch and then visit the El Paos Outlet Mall for some shopping and getting out of our furniture-less house. We had a great time just being together in one of our favorite El Paso spots.
Monday morning started with a visit to the academy and meeting new people. I was able to find my new office and took a tour of the buildings.
Tuesday was Day One of Fort Bliss in-processing. I was able to get most of my assignments complete, except for some computer issues that stalled my progress until the next morning.
On Thursday, I was able to get into my office early and spend some time writing. It was nice to begin building a new daily routine. I also had the chance to attend a staff meeting, where I was able to meet more people and had my first opportunity to share a word of encouragement.
After a busy, but exciting week, this afternoon ended with a nice rain storm. July is El Paso’s rainy season, so every afternoon has either had the threat of a passing storm or a direct hit from a passing cloud. It was a great peaceful way to end the week.
