Staying connected to Jesus is the life blood of every Christian. It is key that we are always double checking our lives to ensure that we are always close to him.
Having moved to Fort Bliss recently, we are in the middle of getting things set up and back in working order. One of the early tasks that we completed was setting up our cable and internet. Since our house is very old the signal from the wireless modem does reach very far. As a matter of fact, it only reaches two rooms. The living room and the dining room. The farther away you are the less of a signal you get, until you are in the back bedroom and phones do not even register that there is internet available at all in the home.
This situation reminded me of our relationship with Christ. The farther away we move from him, the weaker our connection with him becomes. He doesn’t move, we do. If we stay close, this connection is strong—but as we move away—focusing on other things the we lose more and more of our “bars” until we begin to notice that our lives do not even register that who we belong to.
Jesus said: “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:7, ESV). We are to live close to him—every minute of every day. We are to abide—this is how we keep a strong connection with him.
