One of the items that I have learned to never be without here in Korea is my camera, or at least my iPhone. There are times I think I should leave it behind, but when I take it anyway, I am never disappointed.
A couple of weeks ago, I had just that kind of experience. I was out on a walk just to do some reading, when I looked at a field that the last time I passed was an empty cleared field of dirt. The field was now covered with beautiful flowers with pathways for people to walk and enjoy.
It was very nice tosimply walk through the field, but a funny thing began to happen as I looked closer. Not only was thing a nice place to walk and enjoy the flowers, the field became selfie central. As I looked around, people of all ages were taking out their camera’s or phones to take photos or to have photos taken of them. And every one was enjoying themselves taking the photos. Throughout the walkway, there were special stops to stop and take photos. A heart shape in the center of the field was a favorite of many where many couples, families, and friends stopped to take photos.
I enjoyed watching the people pose and change positions and laugh. It was nice to see. There was no criticism of how to take the right photo. There was no apprehension. And there was no strangeness to it at all.
So much so, that I could not help to join in the fun!
