As expected, Wonder Woman #5 (May, 2007) was a good issue. Writer Will Pfeifer gave the reader a good one shot to bridge the gap between writers. This one was about the Athenian Woman’s Shelter. The story asks the question about Wonder Woman’s impact on and inspiration for battered women. Even as Wonder Woman is trying to clear her name with the Department of Meta-Human Affairs after committing murder, she is helping woman across the country.
This leads me to ask the question: What impact is my example on the world around me? Of course, I’m a Chaplain, so I find it obvious that people still watch me to see if I do the right thing. I find that people constantly want to see how Religious People act and I think more people watch all of us more than we think. This realization makes it hurt worse when I mess up, but I am reminded what I learned in the hotel business many years ago. My Manager said: “We will try our best, but we will still mess up once and awhile. Our difference is how we make it right.”
The people around us watch us take our example whether it is good or bad. We as Christians should be constantly aware of this as our world strays farther and farther away from Christ. We need to be the people that they know they can trust when the chips are down.
I think that this issue was a good reminder at how important our character is to the rest of the world.
