I went “Comic Booking” tonight and came home with an arm load. My pull box was full…it has been way too long. I also ran by another comic book shop to get some older issues. I’m slowly building my collection of Superman(v2) titles.
As I left the store to pick up something to eat, I really wanted to sit down and read a couple of books. But, I could not. Where would I go? All of the restaurant: Outback, Chili’s, Cee-Cee’s, even McDonald’s looked to be too busy and too loud. So I ate at the mall, Chick-Fil-A. After wards I wnet to Books-A-Million to get ready to go home. I still wanted to read, but everywhere was too busy. The Books-A-Million coffee shop was just right and quiet, but I was too shy to bring outside books into a book store to read…there is something that feels so illegal about that. So I went home.
When I have my own comic space, I want to have a good coffee pot and good couches so that I may sit and read, with no interruptions. Why can’t comic shops do this? Books-A-Million does? I know there is always the threat of those slime-balls that read the comics and put them back, but for the honest folks it would really be fun.

A seperate room maybe?
“After the purchase of your books, feel free to enjoy the back lounge. Ask our staff!”
Something like that. I’d love the extra effort, and the ability to read without having to go home and drown out the family.
