I just finished reading the Elk Drug Awareness Video Comic with Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four.
Ok. I miss the old “New Teen Titans Drug Awareness Comic Book”. But, I guess I showing my age. The internet is cheaper than paper and easier to distribute. All that somebody needs to have is the information and a computer (with internet, of course). So I can’t realy blame them for using this route. But, I do long for the old days–where we would get a free comic book to take home and read. I think that Marvel is the one that loses in this deal, because here is an important opportunity to introduce another generation to comic books. The web just doesn’t cut it.
Scientists would have to research this question: Does the web comic make as big an impression as the comic book? I still remember my “New Teen Titans Drug Awareness” book from the sixth grade (or so)–so much that I recently aquired a copy. If the Elks want a message to be read over and over–I still feel that the comic book is the way to go.
