The last full week in Korea was filled with clearing and farewells.
The week started on Monday with my household goods pick up. All of my belongings will be shipped to Fort Bliss, hopefully within in a month and I will be able to get back into it. I tried to put everything possible in there so I would not have to keep up with it during the trip. When the packer came in, he said in broken English “that’s a lot of cups”. I thought to myself, “yeah, that’s what Monica says.”
Tuesday, I looked around and noticed that all my stuff was either in a bag or on the counter. My footprint had been reduce to this small space. It was a busy day of work and cleaning to prepare for the housing inspection on Friday.
Wednesday night was the Division Hail and Farewell where we say farewell to Soldiers that are leaving and Hello to those who are new. I received a Commanding General’s coin and my tomahawk as a member of the CG’s mess.
Thursday, after a long day of work, I was still able to pack everything up and clean my room to get ready for the next day.
Friday, I checked into Camp Casey after turning in my housing and my out-processing paperwork. It was a rush of the day. I woke up at my normal time of four and cleaned my room one last time and waited until the appointment at 1030. There was a mix up so had to go summon the inspector, who finally sign my out at 1130. Then it was off to finish my paper work and pick up the tickets for my flight next week. It is clear that this trip is almost over!
