“With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future. I live now.”
–Ralph Waldo Emerson
When focusing on the essential in your life, it is important exactly where that essential is found. It is important that the essentials be placed in the now. Yes, you need to understand how your career is going and, yes, you need to understand where you want your next job to be and how to get promoted. But, the one thing that is going to get you to the place to be promoted is what you are doing right now.
Never lose sight of the now.
Your kids are this age now.
Your opportunities to help you move ahead are here now.
Your spouse needs your support now.
None of these can wait–or one day they will all be gone.
So live now! Don’t wait for one day it to happen because then it may never happen.
The best way to live our lives in balance is to make now the priority–making the important memories now. Doing so will give greater satisfaction and build more opportunities to tackle later.
