The other day, for a lunch treat, I stopped by the local McDonald’s for a salad. It was a well needed break from the busy world of work. I actually came in later than planned because of some interruptions along the way. So, when I finally arrived at the closest McDonald’s–I was quite hungry. So watching my Weight Watchers points, I picked up a Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken.
The points were no problem at 7 points for the entire salad–a recommended choice. The added dressing was 3; giving my lunch time Weight Watcher points total of 10…not bad for eating out. There is a fried option which I saw doubles the calories, so if you are eating healthy–avoid the fried and chose the grilled.
The lettuce was fresh, combined with the added beans and chips, made it a great lunch. I even squirted some lime on the greens before adding the dressing. I was surprised to taste a little spice to the salad; which truly was the right finishing touch. I was happy after lunch to be as full as I was–just enough to not need a nap.
I’ve dabbled in the McDonald’s Salads before, but so far I think this is my favorite–or maybe they just do Southwest right in El Paso. Either way, I heartily recommend the Southwest Salad.
