One of this biggest artists that is out there today is Micheal Turner. His covers are everywhere. However, I find Micheal Turner’s work boring.
I first thought of this when I saw a Wizard Magazine article about Micheal Turner’s successful year. The photo provided is a picture of one of his female characters. It doesn’t matter who she is, because they all look the same. Compare his characters with his Super-girl, or the females in his Superman books (like those above), or the female characters in his independant work–they all look the same. This bores me. If every new Turner drawing I get look just like the other, I ask the question–does he only know how to draw one person?Â
I don’t draw, I read the comics. But, I do write and speak some. If I gave the same sermon to the same people every Sunday, do you think they would be bored? If I wrote the same article for the same paper every time I was asked to write an article, do you think that they would be printed–no, it would be printed only once.Â
Maybe he needs to get some new models and draw them, because even at his prime Micheal Turner is becoming a bore.
