0430 my alarm rings and I step out of bed.Â
I pull on my running shoes and clip on my reflective belt—wouldn’t want to get run over or worse–get chewed out by an NCO.
I step outside the tent to be greeted by a rising sun and I begin to stretch.
I move slowly, the whole process takes 30 minutes.
At 0500, I begin to run—or jog, I only run a ten minute mile in the morning. Nothing too fast, and probably not exceedingly slow, just a nice run to wake me up.Â
My stop watch keeps the time, I run for 15 minutes before I turn around and come back. Along the way, I see some motivated units running in formation, along with several individuals or couple running along the road. I run past the airfield, where I first began running seriously almost three years ago, not much has changed. The other day, I ran past the “Ugly Eddy†that was painted by my previous unit on my last visit.
I return to the TOC where I grab a bottle of water—the sun is beginning to heat things up. My day has gotten a great start.
