One of the lessons that I have learned through the last several years is to never shy away from taking a photo.
This began several years ago when Monica began a weekly project to build a scrapbook page for each week. We both got in the habit of taking pictures of our life. Since that time, we keep our iPhones at the ready and we take the pictures as we do life. This helps us capture the memories as we go. We do not obsess with it. Some of the photos never make it in the scrapbook, but we always will have them on file. Most of the time it take 30 seconds and we moved to enjoy the activity that we are doing.
Of course, as a disclaimer—please shy away when the question could be raised about the safety, the appropriateness or the respect of taking the photo. There is a time and place to take photos.
However, in most cases we shy away because we are shy about taking a picture or if we are self-conscious about taking a picture. I say, take the photos. No one really cares about what you are doing. Once you get in the habit of taking photos, it will become second nature and you will have a hard-drive full of memories.
