I spent my morning on the computer. Not exactly the nice Saturday morning that I desired, but it had to be done. As a part of my in-processing, there are a series of online classes (safety, computer use, etc.) that need to be completed. Instead of trying to find a place to do it on post, and given that this is a four day weekend, I decided violate one of my rules and take this home to do it—which gave me more time at home.
After completing some of these, I packed “Clifford” up with our shipping boxes and drove them to the recycling center at Fort Bliss. We debated what to do with the boxes for several days. In Columbia, the trash pick-up crews actually picked them up and took them away. This was an incredible blessing. Here the trash pick-up crews only pick up what that which is in the blue bin. The other two options are pay $35 or take it to a drop off location. To use the city’s drop off, the requirement is to show a recent water bill with our address. But, we don’t have a water bill—we haven’t been here long enough. So, I had to cross the mountain to Fort Bliss to the recycling drop off there.
Crossing the mountain had it’s benefits, however. I took Will to the top yesterday and Elizabeth Anne to the top today. Yes, a little inconvenient—but fun in the end as I spent some time with my kids.
