Throughout my years as a student, as well as any other formal learning exercise I have been involved in, I have always dreaded the tests. Some people fear public speaking, I fear tests. I do them because I have to, but I never choose them as an option. At the same time, I realize that I learn much more than I would have if the pressure of the test was not there. I look back at the process of reading and studying and I see that I probably would not have put in the effort if I knew there would not be a test. I am thankful for gaining this information after I had passed the test.
There are many times in our lives that we face tests. The tests give us a chance to discover what we know, unfortunately, we also discover what we do not. These tests show up mostly in the presence of temptation. Before a school test, we prepare and prepare. However, if we face a pop quiz, we are only able to rely on what we have prepared through our reading and our routine studying. Life has many pop quizzes that we show to. All we have to refer to is our reading, our studying, and our faith. The Bible says: “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12 ESV) The time to prepare for your next pop quiz is today, because we do not know when the next quiz will be. We must prepare and we must stand.
