“The Spirit of Jesus is the spirit of missions.”
I believe this is true. Jesus came to “seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10) He came to Earth for the purpose of bringing people toward God through his death on a cross—to pay for our sin. His very last words to his disciples, after his resurrection and before his ascension into heaven where; “GO!” (Mat. 28:19-20) The spirit of Jesus, was definitely one of missions.
The bigger question is; “What are you doing to for missions?” If Jesus’ spirit was one of missions—why don’t we emphasize it enough? We get focused on building our own churches—not to say this is wrong—we need to build our churches. The wrongness is that many do church growth in lieu of missions. And this simply isn’t the case.
Our world needs Christ. They need to come to know him and follow him. They cannot know about him unless someone will tell about him.
Is that you? Are you telling the world? God doesn’t call all of us to go forward as a missionaries. This example is made very clear in the New Testament through Paul’s writings to the churches and the description of how to send missionaries out to start churches in different areas or support the effort to do so. As Christians, we are a missions people. We are all called to give to missions—to pay for others who can go; who ARE called to go. We are called to pray for missions—praying for specific missionaries and projects.
How are you going to submit missions in your world?
