On March 18, 2015, this year’s Topps Opening Day Baseball Card set went on sale. This time, I thought I would get the cards at Walmart, because the Heritage Cards were first available at Walmart. But, the trick was on me, because they were not there, so we had to go to Target to check and found them!
I love the card design this year! It is probably my favorite Opening Day set that I have seen! I love the shiny finish and colorful backgrounds.
This year’s first pull didn’t disappoint with a Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips card. It is nice to start off with these player locked into my collection.
As an added benefit, I pulled out a Jay Bruce and Aroldis Chapman card. Chapman was injured last year from a line drive to his face during Spring Training. I’m fascinated by his resiliency and determination to play the game. The fact that he also wears a Reds uniform helps as well.
I was also excited to pick out a couple of Mike Trout cards. One being his normal card and the other being his superstar celebration card.
An added benefit today was to see a Kansas City Royal Mascot card! We will be moving to Kansas City this summer, so hopefully we will be watching some Kansas City Royals games. So, I’m happy to see this mascot card in my collection. I always enjoy the mascot inserts in the opening Day set—it is good to see a favorite team mascot added to my box!

Thank you for reading! The cards typically cost about a dollar for the basic pack, but for the package shown it cost about $10. One of the other reason, I like Opening Day is that they are cheaper than most.
