The fresh start for Wonder Woman introduces Donna Troy as Wonder Woman.
That set off a bad feeling. Ok, so I see that Dianna has been gone for a year–I got that. I also understand that Donna thinks the world needs a Wonder Woman. But, no it won’t work. There are some things that you don’t mess with and that’s the big three. You can’t kill Superman or Batman, and you can’t replace Wonder Woman. She is not like The Flash or Green Lantern or The Blue Beetle. It is actually funny to compare her to them, because she is on a complete other level.
One question I have, however, is “Why is Wonder Woman going through a new volume?” I think that it has to do with poor writing and development. Detective Comics and Action Comics each have over 600 issues under these titles. They have not needed to relaunch since the beginning, and now Wonder Woman is in her third? DC has done a poor job of maintaining the integrity of this key character.Â
I hope this new launch will restore her to the greatness as she deserves. But the delay of #3 is no indication that they are moving in this direction.
