When was the last time you were in a disaster? Was it a year ago? Was it last week? Could it be tomorrow?
No one knows when a disaster may strike. An earthquake could hit, a wildfire could strike, or any number of disasters could catch you by surprise. We do know, however, that they happen to people across the nation frequently. Taking time to complete simple steps to prepare can make the difference for you and your family in the case of an emergency.
Simple steps, such as, having a communications plan, having a meet up point, and keeping a first aid kit in your car can change the entire outlook of a troublesome situation. Other steps to take could be to store some water bottles in your basement, or buy batteries and replace the batteries for all of the flashlights in the house. If you have an extra freezer, you could buy an extra bag of ice to keep on hand in case of a power outage. There are many different little things you can do to be prepared in the event of a disaster.
In case of a disaster, there may be a delay before authorities can reach you to assist. It is always best to place yourself in a situation to help yourself in the midst of disaster. Little steps can go a long way.
