In the 1990’s, while I was in seminary, I picked up several ceramic Mickey Mouse Figurines from the Disney Store. During those days, The Disney Store offered more collectables than they do now and many of these collectables were affordable. Through the years, I have placed them in various places around my home—this trip, it seems that they will rest on my dresser! It is good to see these smiling faces every morning!
The four ceramic Mickey Mouse figurines that I own are:
Regular Mickey Mouse—This ceramic is a simple figurine of Mickey standing and smiling.
Steamboat Willie—Steamboat Willie is my favorite version of Mickey Mouse. I love the black and white look of him and the 1930’s feel of the cartoons when he shows up. So, this is by far my favorite of all of the figurines.
Mickey and Pluto—My longest figurine depicts Mickey Mouse taking his trusted dog, Pluto, for a walk—or it is the other way around! I like it because of the action shot that the figurine stops in mid-movement. I wish I had picked up more action shots from my other figurines, but this one certainly some life to the set of four.
Fantasia Mickey or “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”—Reminding me of Mickey Mouse putting on the Sorcerer’s Hat this figurine has a nice expression. I noticed today that time has been harder on this one as I noticed several chips in the paint. But, I just count it up to love.
I enjoy these little treasures that have been with me through the years and look forward to seeing them for many more.
