Today is Comic Book Day! This is probably the wrong blog for this but it is a big deal.
This is the day when my comic books are to arrive in the mail. I’m actually waiting on two shipments, I had to order from a different company than normal because my regular company didn’t have some of the books in stock.
The mail room is a favorite place on Baumholder. I ran into another Chaplain there yesterday and he was holding a golden ticket–noting that he had a package. He saw mine (for Monica’s dress) and said, I see you have the good stuff today. It is a big deal to get packages.
It reminds me of getting mail in Iraq. There is an incredible excitement when a package arrives in the desert. I have trouble explaining it. The day can do a complete turn around when you hear your name called and a letter or a box is waiting for you.
As your family prepares for deployment, make sure that you take the time to mail those care packages and letters…your soldier will truly appreciate it. Even as you appreciate it here in CMR 405.
