At our local McDonald’s Monica picked up a copy of “Fun Times” magazine, published by McDonald’s featuring the theme “Dream it”. The publication date of availability was February 2013.
At first, I thought it would be the standard; “it you dream it, you can do it” topic, encouraging kids to live out their dreams. Which, would be fine, but I think they had a better approach for this issue.
Their approach to this topic was more along the lines of Disney’s “Imagineering“–where if you imagine something, you can build it. Throughout the book, the editors have placed many different activities in which to build. The centerpiece activity is the bridge. In the center of the book, a two page lay out teaches the reader to build a bridge out of toothpicks. It is old school, but it is pretty cool. Then, in the center of the page Ronald McDonald asks;
“What else can you build with toothpicks?
A skyscraper, a sculpture?
If you can dream it, you can build it!”
Great message from the McDonald’s company.
This issue of “Fun Times: Dream It” has many other activities as well. It even gives an overview of Morse Code. As an amateur radio operator myself, this is good to see!
These giveaways are available in participating franchises, but they add a little bit of fun to the visit. So, if you see one, pick it up!
