Earth Day is not a many of us look forward to on our calender. It is not like election day, where we have to get to the polls by a certain time. There are places that hold festivals, carnivals, and expos. Schools will do some “Earth Friendly” activities. Earth Day is ultimately, a day of decision.
What are you going to do to change your behavior to change the environment?
This doesn’t have to be big huge changes in your life. But it is the little thing that you may do that can make a difference in the long run. So on this Earth Day, I recommend three things for you to consider.
1.Consider researching the facts about the environment to see for your self what you believe to be true about the dangers to the earth. The is plenty of information out there. I have recently found The Evangelical Environmental Network that provides a good list of Bible Verses regarding the environment.
2.Consider what you are going to do to reduce your personal impact on the environment. Take steps to reduce the extra stuff that you are throwing away that can be reduced–simple things like water bottles and grocery sacks can be reduced significantly. Think through your day and discover what you can to to change your behavior to reduce the amount of waste that you throw away. And don’t forget to think about using Energy efficient light bulbs!
3. Consider ways you can help others be more proactive regarding the environment. Set up a recycling bin a your church. Host a aluminum can or newspaper drive. Give to an organization that you trust that will forward the advancement of Biblical environmental policy. Take your children to the zoo and teach them about taking care of the animals.
These are just three broad ways to help the environment. But, there are so many more–be creative! It doesn’t take much, if we all do a little.

We’re off to the zoo today! We want to see the “new” giraffe exhibit. So much has changed around here in 3 years.
