During my reading of the newspaper and prayer, I reflected on the Egyptian crisis and how the people of Egypt are struggling with their government. I pray that there will be peace there. I don’t fully understand all of the issues, but I know that there is hurting there. I pray for peace in that region. The time of strife is scary as other people around the world are empowered by the activities of Egypt and Tunisia.
As I reflected, I considered how thankful I am to be an American.
I say this not a a patriotic statement, but one of true gratefulness that our founding fathers designed our constitution to unify and to bring about peaceful transitions of power.
I also reflected on the recent tragedy in Arizona and realized how fragile this peaceful union is.
I am thankful that we live in a country of a peaceful government. We can disagree with the government. We can peacefully make our voice known. But in the end, our children grow up knowing a system of government that supports peaceful transition through recurring elections.
Please continue to pray for the situation in Egypt. Pray for peace. Pray that people will find the true source of peace in their lives through Jesus Christ.
