Over the summer, I saw an interesting trailer for a movie about Sherlock Holmes. I have been a fan of Sherlock Holmes since high school, but never actually took the time to read any of the books. I’ve started a number of times…but life always happened and I was sidetracked away. I watched movies and TV shows about him. However, I have never taken the time to read the books that started it all. Several weeks ago, when I began writing about my list of lifetime bucket list, I added this item to the list of things I really want to do. One day, I want to read all of the Sir Conan Doyle books about Sherlock Holmes.
I was reminded of this desire last night, as I finally watched that movie. The movie is called “Mr. Holmes” and is available for rent through Amazon. The story of the movie is about Sherlock Holmes’ last case—it is a wonderfully written British film. I completely recommend it. As I watched the movie, I dreamed for a moment that I could sit by the fire and read through those books and enjoy the masterpieces that they are.
On my lifetime bucket list is a note to read all of the Sherlock Holmes books—if I had the time I would start today. However, I will wait for the right time—maybe on a snow day—to read those adventures one by one.
