I had an exciting Comic Book Day last night.Â
It all started with a trip to the Great Escape store in Madison. I only go there for the 50 cent comic books, and the occasional back issue that I can’t find else where. I don’t like going in there, but I can bear it to get some good cheap comics. I go inside, and I imediatly notice that they have moved the comic book boxes to the other side of the aisle. Then, I discover that the collection of cheap comics has grown by several boxes. I had a plan on buying some Daredevil and Fantastic Four back issues (I’m not really interested in currents on any Marvel, right now). The plan changed as I found several issues of Batman and Detective Comics, as well as a couple of Superman and Adventures of Superman comic books. So I walked out with about twenty comic books.
I was done with my comic book digging, so I decided that it was time to drive up the road to Rick’s Comic City in Madison Tennessee. I picked up my rather large order of comic books and checked to make sure I had everything. I have learned that I need to take responsibility to double check my books. The shop helps by keeping a box, but if it is that important to me to get all of my comic books, then it is important enough to double check. On my way out, I turn to pick up some comic book bags and comic book boards for the administrative side of my collection then I see these boxes. The guy behind the counter tells me that they where one dollar comics. They were recent back issues and overstocks. They were all nicely bagged and boarded. I walked out with 10 Batman comic books, which mostly completes my collection back to 2005. (You can see my collection at Comic Price Guide.) I was disapointed only because I wish I could afford much more.
What an Exciting Comic Book Day!!
