The first week at home has been a wonderful chance to spend with the family. Since returning home for two weeks last Friday, I have been busy resting, relaxing, and enjoying the company of each one of the family members.
I spent Monday resting. Monica and I enjoyed a dinner out, but interestingly enough, neither one of us took pictures—sometimes it is just nice to enjoy the time without remembering to post to Instagram. Before we left on our date, however, I caught a photo of Jenny drawing with Cupcake nearby.
On Valentine’s Day, I took Will to pick up roses for Monica. He has done this every year, for several years, and he will not let us forget that this is something he must do. It is a big part of our day.
Wednesday, I took Elizabeth Anne to McDonald’s and Antique Shopping. I enjoyed the time I spent with her and I am looking forward to more time when I return for good in July.
On Thursday, our family took a lunch trip to Crackle Barrel and spent some time shopping in the local area. One of my midtour leave wishes was to visit Crackle Barrel, so I was glad to get it in!
With the temperature forecast to be in the mid-seventies, it was an easy decision to plan on a trip to the Kansas City Zoo on Friday. We were not the only family to make this decision, so there were many preschoolers all over the zoo, but, we saw everything that we wanted to see. It was another good day with the family.
This week is a good reminder of home and what our family is like. I am very impressed by how the children have grown and matured during the last seven months. I hope I never take for granted how good they all are. I am thankful for the amount of time Monica has taken to homeschool them in more ways than just academic. I am looking forward to next week’s adventures.
