It is amazing how much energy is depleted from a short work week, but it was one of those weeks that everyday seemed to be crammed with as much as possible. But, looking back, it was productive and meaningful.
The week began with a day off, where, in the evening, I enjoyed Korean Barbeque at a restaurant off post—that I really should have visited earlier. For me, it takes me awhile to figure out “the rules” but I was happy to have a friend to show me the ropes.
Tuesday, was a really long day. When I finally came home and relaxed, I realized that I hadn’t taken my daily Instagram photo. When I got up from my chair, I captured the memory of my “truck stop blanket”. I bought this blanket before my first deployment and I have used it everywhere since. It is nice to enjoy the warmth after a long day.
Wednesday, I spoke at a Battalion Prayer Luncheon at the Camp Stanley KATUSA Snack Bar. I love the opportunity that I have to preach and to encourage others. This was one of the highlights of the week!
Every Thursday, I have some meetings at the Division Headquarters building. Every time I walk up the stairs, I am greeted by the “Warrior Wall of Honor” where the photos of all of the 2ID Medal of Honor recipients are memorialized. It is a great way to remember their service and our duty to live honorably.
This morning, we woke up to a blanket of snow. Our section ran our normal six miles, and it was a wonderful sight to see as we ran along the snow-covered river bank.
There were certainly many high points of this week! It is a blessing to serve and, even though I’m tired, I am reminded daily of the importance of me being here.
