This morning, I spent some time updating my goodreads.com site. I look forward to being able to continue to update it and add more and more books to my list. I’m still working out minor additions to the list; one of the major areas that I will be updating the book reviews portion by submitting more written reviews, which takes more time than just one day. Many of those reviews will also be available here on this blog—but also on goodreads.com.
What I like most about goodreads.com is the ability to track what I have read in the past, as well as the ability to continue recording what I am reading. I have a goal of reading 38 books in 2015, which is pretty heavy—but I include the books that I listen to through audible.com. Being a frequent listener on audible.com adds to my reading totals greatly. Being able to mark what I have read and keep track motivates me to read more and more. I am a very “legalistic” person—I don’t like to bend the truth in any way. So, if I mark a book as read—I have completed the book from start to finish. Period. This lets me know that what I have finished, is in fact what I finished. It is inspiring.
I also enjoy the social media aspect of the site. Anyone, with a goodreads account, can subscribe to my feed www.goodread.com/keithandrews and receive updates about what I am reading. Again, this is why writing the book reviews are important—to give better description of my reading. At the very least, I can give a starred review of the book, within five stars—three is my average, which gives me room to distinguish the good, better, and best books that I am able to read.
This year, I look forward to reading and reviewing much more on my goodread.com page. I hope that you will join me!
