One of our final trips as a family, before my trip to Korea, was a visit to downtown Kansas City. Our main objective was to get out of the house and just have a good day together. We visited Union Station and the City Market on a rainy, but thankfully cool, Saturday afternoon.
In addition to these staples, that we have certainly grown to love, we took the kids to the Hallmark Visitors Center. Since it was a rainy day, the kid’s activities at the Visitors Center was crowded, so we by passed this and went straight to the museum. Our children had a wonderful time walking through seeing the Hallmark Christmas Cards of the Presidents, the Christmas Tree display, and the bow making machine. The visit was a nice conclusion to a enjoyable day downtown.
The Hallmark Visitor’s Center is a small museum of Hallmark History and an overview of all of the area that Hallmark is involved in from traditional greeting cards to television. Probably the most memorable portion of the museum is the Christmas Tree display. There, the museum showcases several different themed Christmas trees that have been created through the years. My youngest loved seeing the folk art tree that featured wooden trains.
The Hallmark Visitor’s Center is an enjoyable stop in your visit to downtown Kansas City. It is not a special trip, but if you are in the Crown Center area, the Hallmark Visitor’s Center is an good opportunity to stop and become see some of the history of the Hallmark Corporation.
