I was greeted Friday afternoon by Monica and the kids, waiting with signs and smiles. It is always good to see them after a long absence—this time for seven months. So, I made the long flight home to spend about two weeks with them before returning to Korea for another five months.
For these two weeks, we do not have much planned except to spend time together. We thought about some plans, but the closer the time for me to come home, the more we felt that we just needed to do life together for the two weeks, rather than be stressed by a trip somewhere.
Our favorite times are simple. Time that we just spend together. Yes, we enjoy the occasional trip to Disneyland—but sometimes the trip to home is the best medicine. So, this week we plan to do just that. We plan to go to lunch some days, maybe a trip to the zoo. I plan to work on my baseball cards and to write. We will play games and talk. The weather looks to be nice, so we will also go outside and run and play.
It is not everyone’s idea of a good time-but it is most certainly ours. We look forward to stuffing as much white space into our week as we can. The challenge of white space, like a white wall, is keeping it white. While things can easily creep in, we plan to keep it clear.
