It is stamp time again. Now the USPS is putting Marvel on their stamps. Back in July, the USPS issued the DC Comics stamps. This is just another remind of the cultural impact of comics.
I was interested to see that both sheets of stamps are the old school versions of the heroes. What does this say about the image that comics have among the American people. The comic books of today are slick and glossy. But most people recognize the comics as the simple slips that they once were. Do comic book creators need to return to the “old school” way of art?  Does the new way of drawing and inking reflect what people have in their minds about what comics should look like?Â
These are not critisms because sometimes the art is very enjoyable. It is just an observation.
