On I-25 between El Paso and Albuquerque, there a little town off the interstate that has it’s own McDonald’s. In some ways, this fact is enough to put the town in the map. But, the little town of Belen, New Mexico benefits greatly from their McDonald’s.
Belen, NM is a town off the path of Interstate 25. Given it’s position near the interstate highway, it is a great place to stop off on a journey between the two large cities of Albuquerque, NM and El Paso, Texas. The McDonald’s in Belen is incredibly busy. And not only for the food.
The town benefits from free wi-fi offered inside the McDonald’s. So much so that the side aisle of the restaurant took the shape of an Internet cafe when I stopped on a Sunday drive.
I would also add that the town benefits from the indoor playground. Again, on the day, I stop in the playground was busy. It was a cold December weekend, with snow about twenty miles north. The indoor playground provided a safe and clean place for the children of Belen to play.
This new building had much to offer the little town of Belen. I remember driving away, drinking a McCafe Caramel Mocha, thinking about how much good that this particular McDonald’s was bringing to its community; just by doing what McDonald’s restaurants do around the world.
