I was glad that I had a reminder on Twitter this morning that today was “National Running Day”. I had heard about it, but didn’t remember that it was today until I read someone’s post—but I glad I did! Then, I made sure I ran four miles to mark the day!
I love to run. I have truly become a runner over the last several years, completing five half marathons, two ten milers, and one marathon (one is enough, I think). I have also ran several 5Ks, but I don’t remember how many. But, the point is that I simply enjoy running.
The funny thing is that I am not the best runner. I am better that the 90 or so percent that don’t run—and I usually rank in the top 25% of runners in races—but I not the best. I run because I enjoy running—not necessarily competing. As long as I get a T-shirt from a 5K and a medal from anything over ten miles—that is competition enough for me!
I try to run four miles as much as possible. Sometimes, work schedule gets busy and I have too many early morning or late night activities that I miss a run—but a solid habit of four milers s my goal. There is a great feeling I feel when I finish a solid run. It is a feeling that I get when I know I have worked hard and achieved my goal. I also look at where I have come from and I am pleased with the result.
