The moving van pulled from our house at 5:00pm yesterday. We left our house this morning at 10:00am. Seven hours later—minus one for the time zone change—we are here in Birmingham, AL.
We crawled into in the car, drove out the driveway (stopped by Sonic for a drink), the kids put on their earphones for movies, and away we went. I think Monica’s car was a little bit more talkative.
Along the way, I pondered a recurring Billboard along the road in Georgia. It was an advertisement for “Wacky Wayne’s Fireworks”. I’ve seen these before: “Crazy Bob”, “One Eyed Joe”—who buys explosives from these people? Anyway—it occupied my mind for several minutes.
We stopped at a Wendy’s in the middle of nowhere—Greensboro, GA, and we stopped again at the Alabama State Welcome Center. We ate supper at Ruby Tuesday in the Galleria Mall in Birmingham.
At the mall, I did get a chance to visit a Teavana store. It was a fluke—I really wasn’t prepared to buy anything in particular. And because I typically browse online—I was a little bit overwhelmed. I did buy some tea mugs though. Thought about the blue berry tea—it smelled great! But, the last thing I need on this trip is a canister of high quality loose tea leaves tumbling in the truck.
We made it through our first day—three more to go.
