A great day of driving and meeting friends.
We got back on the road—a little later than planned—this morning and headed to Jackson, Mississippi. Monica has a friend there that we all spent the afternoon with. Check with Monica’s blog for more on the visit.
Along the way, we stopped at the Mississippi Welcome Center which is one of the nicest I’ve ever been in. The welcome center offered us coffee and some nice exhibits to look at. These exhibits are always a break away from the sameness of the interstate.
It was a good day of driving—shorter than yesterday, which was a good break. I thought about a couple of things while I was driving.
First, I thought about visiting Teavanna last night. I really should’ve asked more questions. How do they serve their loose tea? How much does it cost? Where do you get a filter for a standard tea pot? Basic questions. Some questions I didn’t have time to think of—but should’ve taken the time to ask. Sometimes my ego gets in the way. I didn’t want to feel like an idiot and ask such basic questions. Shouldn’t I know the answer before I go in? No—that’s why they are there! But, also why should I care? I was in Birmingham, Alabama—who would even know? I should have asked more questions. And, besides, they probably would have loved to tell me how much they knew. I passed up an opportunity to make a great visit even better.
Second, we passed by a billboard “Frontier Bingo”. “Exit here to win.” And the billboard had bullet holes painted on it. Again, as with “Wacky Wayne’s” the day before—really? You want me to go into a Bingo parlor that advertises it’s gun fights? Is that what I win when I say “Bingo!”?
We had a wonderful day of travelling. I look forward to our trip to Dallas tomorrow and the crossing of the Mississippi River.
