For several years now, I have collected baseball cards. I love getting them and looking through them. I certainly enjoy hunting cards down and getting complete sets. I always buy the complete set of the Topps base sets, but my favorite card sets of Opening Day and Heritage, I like to build the sets. On the past years cards…the challenge is much more complicated. I walked into the closet today and was completely overwhelmed.
A couple of years ago, I acquired a set of 7000 cards…then another set of about 5000 cards…then recently another large bulk of cards. It has taken me years to think through how I want to organize them and build the collections. But, I think I have a plan after today’s visit to the closet.
During our stay in El Paso, I have been able to get them somewhat stacked in adequate boxes. Many of the cards were simply stacked in boxes. I’ve transferred them to shallow Amazon boxes, which make it easier to thumb through. Now, I’m ready for the next stage.
The next stage is to purchase some boxes. When they arrive, then I can sort the cards by different sets. I will divide the sets by plastic dividers, much like I do for my comic books. Then after they are all separated, then I can sort the set by number. Being that there are certain duplicates in the cards this will help thin out the boxes.
So, I have a plan, and a task; I hope to let you see how it goes in the coming months.
