Some of the nicest gifts that I have received were simple little reminders of the people that support me and all of the Soldiers here in Iraq.
One of these gifts was a simple framed certificate from Adopt-A-Chaplain.org. With every chaplain they adopt, they send them a pledge card. This little certificate has been on my desk all year as a reminder of how much people support us.
Another personal message that I keep, is a photoshopped cover of Superman 500, with me and my assistant on the cover. This is hanging proudly on my wall as another reminder of people that support us.
The Soldiers do enjoy the hand made cards from children in the states, and in many cases you will see them stapled to bulletin boards or taped to a wall. But, the personal framed statements always have a place to be set or hung. It is that extra touch that makes it memorable.
So, when you are putting together a care package, may next time send a framed card to your Soldier–it can remind him/her of your support everyday.
