This week has been an interesting mix of getting off post and seeing Korea and the routine Battle Rhythm of living life. I am happy that many of the memories are stored somewhat in photos.
Monday was Columbus Day, which allowed me to go off post and visit Seoul. I spent a large part of my morning at Starbucks reading from my Feedly and Notibility notes from the past several weeks. It was good to catch up. The prompt for the day was “Stand Out” so on my recon of the Seoul Museum of Art—which I discovered was closer, but now I know its location, I spotted a flower sculpture that stood out to me amongst the green trees and urban back drop.
Tuesday, I was back at work. I had a long day after the long weekend and didn’t stop very much during the day. I was able to pick up a box of bags of chips to add to my in-room meals. I like the small bags because they control what I eat better than a big bag. So, the prompt was “snack size”, and I chose to feature my barbecue sandwich and Doritos.
Wednesday during my prayer time, I was able to use my new lap-desk for journaling. It is good to be able to have this ready to write in the mornings.
Thursday’s prompt was “orange on top”. Not quite sure what to do with that, so during my evening walk, I thought about taking a photograph of the Pool Balls, with the orange one on top of the photo. Nothing much else happened that day, except for meetings.
Friday was spent with our KATUSA Soldiers giving us an introduction of Korean culture and of Seoul. We had a wonderful time touring the city and getting a personal brief from a native Korean about their country.
It was a good week of normalcy and fun mixed in. The weather in Korea is ideal for getting out and getting to know the surroundings!
