As a tea drinker, the one process that must occur in the brewing of tea is the boilong of the water. There is the traditional way of bioling water with a kettle on the stove. Then, there is sticking a cup in the microwave and exposing yourself to embarassment. Tea, by the way, is so far above microwaved water that I should not even mention it as an option. The purpose of tea is to slow down—the microwave complete goes against that idea.
A couple of years, ago, I discovered a wonderful compromise while desiring tea in my office. I went to the PX an purchased a Hamilton Beach 1.7 liter electric tea kettle. I was first looking for a “hot pot” because I did not want to spend too much money, but the PX did not have them. What they had was the Stainless Steele Tea Kettle.
The tea kettle does everything that it needs to do very well. It boils water, of course, but also shuts off when it hits boiling point. This shut off feature is an important feature to have to prevent burning up the pot or potential worse hazards. The pot itself is cordless, which helps in pouring the water. The water is boiled faster than the stove, but not microwaved. Microwaving, never gets the water temperature right anyway. The pot has a water level window, so you will not have to worry about over or under filling. The pot is very usefull.
I use my Electric Tea Kettle several times a day. It always gives the right temperature to the cup or pot that I may be brewing. If you are a tea drinker, this would be a great purchase foryou to make!
