This morning, I was trying to tell someone in the Eastern Time zone about an event that started in the Pacific Time zone, while I am in the Mountain Time Zone. I wanted to makes sure that I was sending out the right time, just I googled something that led me to a world time converter: World Time Buddy.
WorldTimeBuddy.com lays out the time anywhere in the world and compares it to your time. The site as well as their iPhone/Android app lays all of the time zones in a grid and blocks off the time to help you see the time period you may be looking for. After seeing it on Google, I instantly downloaded and upgrade the iPhone app.
While time zones may have been simply nice to know information or even trivial several months ago, the atmosphere is changing and the ability to talk across time zone is now a reality. Through Periscope, the door is now open to talk and send video around the world—in real time. Understanding of what time it is in around the world is now a must. Beyond, periscope—as game changing as that may be, I already have Soldiers I personally communicate in different parts of the world, it now possible to watch world events unfold through the internet, as a hobby I listen to shortwave based on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-London, UK) and it is now possible to receive real time information from missionaries in field around the world.
World Time Buddy is my pick of the week this week because of how the app and website make it to track the time zones instantly. It is a small tool but can definitely make communication more powerful.
