I am saddened to hear this morning of the death of the missionaries killed in Afghanistan—their crime? Preaching Christianity.
Some of my thoughts this morning turn to how dangerous our world is for Christians. Many times in America, we get complacent with our safety. Maybe it is because we don’t do anything worth getting killed for.
Yes, we have free speech—but do we still cower under the umbrella of tolerance? Do we still become silent under peer pressure?
I am not talking about taking a political stand—but a religious one. We have gotten so confused about what it means to take a stand for Christ. Declaring that Jesus is the only way to heaven is enough to get you killed—but do we too often take the easy road a fight for the latest political issue?
Take Tom Little, an optometrist from Delmar, NY—he spent 30 years working in Afghanistan. Preaching Christianity is enough to get you killed. “Mr. Tom” shared his faith for 30 years—stepped outside his comfort zone to bring the gospel to the Afghan people.
What are we doing to bring the gospel to ours?
