When looking at the waves, they can signal the moving in of the tide, or they can mean the approach of a deadly storm. When there are storms in our lives, we must find a place to take refuge. Thankfully, God calls us to take refuge in him.
On the airplane from Korea to the United States, I watched a disaster movie. Luckily it was not the movie, “Airport”, it was an Earthquake movie. While it was all fiction, and a little over the top, the scenes created fear driving the energy in the movie.
There are many things in life that create fear—natural disasters are one of them. However, there are many other events in life that cause an equal amount of fear. Some of these are families falling apart or the death of a loved one or, in some cases, a loss of a job. These can bring about much fear in people’s lives.
The Bible says;
“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” (Nahum 1:7, ESV)
We can find refuge in him. It does not matter what kind of disaster or fear that is approaching you—you can take refuge in God, if you will take it. When the waves crash, when the buildings, when everyone leaves, when you stand—The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble.
What are you trusting in? Are you trusting in a stronghold? You can trust in him today.
