Last week, I was in need of some gravy to top off my rice. Then, after I finished the rice, I topped off a piece of bread with the gravy. This is a personal favorite dish of mine-that I was happy to pass this on to my son, who was equally happy to learn. We had rice and gravy with Pork Chops the night before and Monica saved the left over Pork Chops and the Rice, but did not save the gravy. (What?) When I began to complain, she remembered that in the back of her cupboard was a can of Libby’s Country Sausage Gravy.
I was completely amazed! Who was the genius who put ready-made gravy in a can!?! And, I have to add that it was pretty good. Not as good as fresh, a little thinner, but for gravy from a can—not bad at all. I cannot believe that this has been in the store and I missed it, and I will make sure that I check to see if they have it in the commissary here in Korea. I cannot think of a better way to bring home food to my table than adding a touch of gravy to a piece of bread—a touch is to mean cover completely.
I am always amazed at what I can find that companies are able to put into cans. Not that I am complaining because it is these cans that lift my morale most of all.
