I was looking through some old books of mine that I recieved from an older retired preachers several years ago. The books went over looked by many of my peers, but I found something wonderfully impressive about them–and refer to them time and time again.
Inside one of the books was a bulletin from the “Fairfield Highlands Community Easter Sunrise Service”. The bulletin, or program, was dated April 1, 1945. While it was inspirational to see, the final line on the back caught my attention. It read:
Get extra copies of this bulletin to take to a friend, or send to a Service Man.
How wonderful it would be if the churches in the states would begin sending their bulletins to Soldiers, Airmen, and Sailors as an encouragement to keep the faith.
One of the biggest lessons learned from this is how important the local church could be in regularly supporting their Soldiers downrange. Honestly, I don’t see it often enough.

I read Monica’s site with great regularity, just stopped over here. My husband’s cousin is currently deployed and I am often racking my brain for things to send over to him to encourage him. Thanks for this idea. I am wondering if it would still be useful if the bulletin is from a church that isn’t his home church? We’ve sent him sermon tapes in the past and always some home made food. Any other suggestions for things to send that would be spiritually encouraging? Thanks!
