I took Will to the movies on Saturday and I saw the theatrical trailer for “The Sound of Music Blu-Ray DVD”. The funny thing was, however, was that I didn’t know it was for the DVD—I thought it was possible—maybe just a little—that the studio was rereleasing the movie into theaters.
I was disappointed.
At the very beginning of the trailer showed Julie Andrews running on the picturesque hillside. The picture filled the screen—oh, to see the whole movie as it was meant to be seen.
I know that any re-release is driven by the expected profit to be made—but I hope to one day see this movie with the new technologies in sound and projection. The first thirty seconds were breath taking.
Maybe—in the next five years—they will decide to re-release for the 50th anniversary.

There’s nothing like seeing “The Sound of Music” on the big screen, especially in its original (non-sing-along) version! I sure hope 20th Century Fox will re-release the film in theatres for its 50th anniversary! I’d go see it at least once a week! The opening scene alone would be worh the price of admission!
