This weeks Midtown comics email newsletter featured a story about the Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS) remaster edition premiering in theaters across America.
I’m just not sold on it. I didn’t like it when they added special affects to Star Wars–and I don’t like it now. How can you improve on the arguably two most popular science fiction films/shows? Part of the charm of the ST:TOS was that the producers actually made space travel believable with the budget and technology available. Why do they want to change that? I got it–this is an easy way to get more press, but what happened to the art?–even if it was low budget art.
Which leads to the next question…what will happen to the ST:TOS comic books out there when the new movie Star Trek XI comes out? Will they replace Shatner with Chris Pine?Â

Wow! I haven’t seen that. We don’t get very much Trek here in Germany, but if that’s true–that’s just wrong. The funny thing is, however, with all of the “Trekies” out there–I can’t believe that the producers didn’t think anyone would notice!

I noticed the other when I was channel surfing they had a shot from TOS where the ship was orbiting a planet that looked like something on TNG. I don’t see the point.
