We have become so overly scientific about things–so many things, we have to break apart into little bity pieces until they completely take the fun out of life.
An example of this is the stars. At night, here, the sky is pitch black, except for the stars that illuminate it. I love looking at the stars, one day, when I get back to the States, I look forward to being able to enjoy teaching me children about the constellations and the shooting stars and the planets. Looking at the stars reminds me of Genesis 1:14-19.
We can get so wrap up in the explanation of it all–and science has its place.
It is not the speed that the light took to get to the earth from some far away star, it is not scientific effect of the gasses of these stars shining through the universe, nor is it the chemical reaction that causes my eyes to see or my brain to work that impresses me. It is the simple fact that God loves us enough to create these lights above.
We get so wrapped up in the science that we ignore the reality that God’s hand was in it all.
Prayer is the same way. In the book, When God Answers Prayer, the author,Bob Russell, writes:
“Most of the time, when God intervenes, he does so quietly and anonymously–in such a way that we must accept by faith that he has answered our prayers.”

As a scientist, I chafe slightly at your comments. Fortunately, I have had my eyes opened again after years of letting science undermine my faith. Now, I am able to walk outside at night and gaze at the stars in absolute wonder. There is a line is a song by Chris Tonlin (Indescribable) that goes something like “you placed the stars in the heavens and know them all by name.” That line hits me every time I hear it. God is amazing, and science may be able to explain a lot, but never God.
