This weekend, I picked up this Summer’s edition of “Adventures Along the Ohio River”. “Adventures” is an tourist advertising magazine. It highlights the happenings in the counties that border the Ohio River in Kentucy and Illinios. One of the featured towns is the town of Metropolis. Metropolis is actually heavly featured in the magazine, since the book is published by the Metropolis Planet.Â
The cover says it all. This is the time of year for the 29th Annual Metropolis Superman Celebration. (June 7-10, 2007)I’ve never been, but I keep finding myself strangely drawn to it.  I almost went two years ago before I went to Iraq.Â
Every year, Metroplois puts on this show, to showcase Superman and their little town. From what I read in the magazine, it apears to be a normal small town festival that we see around this time a year. My home town used to have a festival called “The Pride of the Piedmont Festival”. This Superman Celebration is actually successful.Â
Each year they manage to bring in actors and artists to do meet and greets. They also have the Little Miss Supergirl and Little Mr. Superboy padgents, arm wrestling, and the Super Car Show.  Be sure to look at the website: supermancelebration.net. The site doesn’t just have information about the festival, it is full of links to different Superman websites and video. You will enjoy that visit.
Actually, after looking at the website, it looks like fun. I may try to go this year.
